Essentials in Writing, a homeschool writing curriculum company based in Springfield, MO, is expanding their online support to include two new teachers to help parents on their homeschool journey.

SPRINGFIELD, MO, June 15, 2018 /24-7PressRelease/ — Homeschool parents can claim another victory! Essentials in Writing is an award winning homeschool writing curriculum for all grade levels, especially for reluctant writers who prefer a step-by-step approach to writing in short, bite-sized pieces with Stephens modeling the entire writing process.

This June, Matthew Stephens is announcing the addition of 2 new team members to aid with curriculum development and provide support for homeschool families with questions about how to teach writing.

“We’re always looking at ways to support our homeschool families with what they need,” said Stephens about the new additions to the Essentials in Writing team. “We’re not just selling a product; we’re bringing diversity to the team and being innovative.”

The teachers, Mary McGee and Molly Lasater, will apply their classroom experience to curriculum development to ensure that Essentials in Writing is producing curriculum that teaches both grammar and the writing process as well as meeting the standards of not only homeschool families but also teachers.

McGee and Lasater’s primary responsibility, however, is to answer parents’ questions about the process of teaching writing while homeschooling, a responsibility that was formerly assumed by founder Matthew Stephens.

Mary McGee is an elementary specialist with 32 years of experience teaching first and second grade, and she is currently helping homeschool her grandchildren. “I am excited to be joining the Essentials in Writing team,” said McGee. “I’m looking forward to being able to influence the love of learning in children as well as helping parents become their child’s best teachers!”

Molly Lasater is a former junior high and high school English teacher who has homeschooled her children for 8 years and used Essentials in Writing for 4 years. She is also excited to join Essentials in Writing. “My sons have used the curriculum for several years, and I love how organized and structured the content is from year to year,” said Lasater. “I am looking forward to becoming part of a company I have loved and believed in for many years!”

Essentials in Writing is a video-based homeschool writing curriculum where students learn how to effectively communicate with readers in written language and become confident writers. Essentials in Writing is currently featured in Cathy Duffy’s 102 Top Picks for Homeschool Curriculum.
