Acclaimed Writer Qinyi Fu Joins Distinguished Production of “When We Were” Short Film
LOS ANGELES, CA, March 27, 2025 /24-7PressRelease/ — UnicVisions, LLC is delighted to announce that esteemed writer Qinyi Fu has joined the creative team of the upcoming short film “When We Were” as a screenwriter. This distinguished production takes inspiration from and includes Maya Angelou’s poignant poem, “Alone”, delving into the often-overlooked issue of loneliness among seniors in assisted living communities.
“When We Were” is written, produced, and directed by AFI alumna Leslie Bates, known for her nuanced storytelling and compelling character-driven narratives. The production will be looking to the movie stars we all grew up with to fill the roles of the elderly residents, reigniting the audience’s memories, much as those same elderly do in telling their own stories.
Qinyi Fu, whose previous works include notable projects, brings her unique perspective and storytelling prowess to this emotionally charged project. Fu’s involvement is expected to add depth and authenticity to the adaptation of Angelou’s powerful words.
The film’s production is set to begin on April 1, 2025, with pre-production lasting until June 30, 2025. Principal photography will take place from July 1 to July 20, 2025, followed by post-production until September 17, 2025.
“When We Were” aims to shed light on the often-overlooked experiences of seniors, focusing on the pace and rhythm of life in their twilight years. The film’s editing process will be crucial in conveying the sense of time and loneliness experienced by the elderly protagonists.
UniCvisions, LLC is committed to bringing this important story to audiences, highlighting the need for compassion and understanding towards our senior citizens. The company looks forward to sharing more details about the project as production progresses.
